    I finally defeated Isshin the Sword Saint after 1.5 years and I've never felt so proud beating a game!

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 11:15 AM PDT

    It took me a lot of sparring sessions and a couple dozen serious attempts, but at last I have beat him humbly, fair and square. Many mistakes were made, much rice was eaten, but I got him. :)

    The adrenaline rush from this fight lasted for hours afterward. I felt so proud, and beating him felt so rewarding. I've never gotten so much out of a major victory in any game.

    I got him just barely, with a good chunk of luck. I've been re-playing this fight a bunch of times these past days. I really really like it now. I beat him a few more times and have gotten considerably better and quicker. For example, here's my third win! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOzfqNXEWLE

    It's been a struggle just getting to this point, and I honestly did not expect to beat him that night but something clicked and I really got into the right mind zone. It felt truly awesome.

    This game is truly something in different and made a real impact. I used to be so impatient, stubborn about adapting and learning and reluctant to face challenges rather than trying to avoid them. I never believed I'd get to this point and actually enjoying the game this much. I'm gonna platinum this bitch.

    I want to give a shout out to u/pwn_with_katiecakes and u/shebnitz1 for their combat advice and guidance as well as their encouragement. I actually played Sekiro and got my win while watching Katiecakes' livestream of her Deathless No-Heal Run! The vibes really helped. Just released my iOS game on TestFlight. Sekiro was a huge inspiration. Would love to know what you think.

    FYI: sometimes you can deflect Shura Isshin's One Mind with Projected Force, but the move is unreliable due to the varying animation length of the counterattack

    I love this game, I really do. But for the life of me, I cannot beat the first PROPER boss (the horse one). Is there anything I can do to change this? This is my third time starting the game and I'm always getting hung up here and giving up :(

    Charmless Isshin == death

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 01:24 PM PDT

    I never thought phase 2 was all that bad because I could block him and missed parries were just blocks so no biggie.

    In this case missed parry takes out at least 20% of my health. So in the heat is getting my parries I get hit which is even worst since he can kill me two hits!

    Then there is the part where he gets his posture back by just standing around which really sucks. If I try attacking him he just destroys me so going head on attacking is a bad idea.

    Just reactively parrying isn't getting me past half his posture before he just gets it all back.

    I have been to 3rd phase just 3 times :-( Nearly killed him 3 times but died in the last minute. Last phase is lot easier because of the gaurenteed lightning redirect at the start which means his posture doesn't fill up as quickly.

    The most annoying part of all this is not his phase 2 but having to go through genichiro every. Single. Time. In fact that's frustrated me so much that now even he is killing me lol.

    All in all this is just bullshit.

    Time for a break.
