Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:25 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm just a mere student at a university right now. I have basic experience at programming, mostly java, c, c++, c# etc. I would really like to co-operate with some others and try to make a multiplayer mod for this masterpiece! Would anyone like to join me into this nightmare? [link] [comments]

A year after release I have a few thoughts on Sekrio Posted: 30 Mar 2020 11:50 PM PDT I may have arrived late to the FromSoft pain train but I swear by Gwyn I'll die as their staunchest supporter! This is the first time I've experienced one of these games on launch without any preconceived notions on what to expect or how to play. Discovering secrets and game mechanics myself while mastering the combat on my own terms was an extremely satisfying experience. The swordplay is so much fun in this one because it's very challenging to get it right but when you do the fights start to feel like a dance to the point where it doesn't feel like you're fighting the enemy anymore but more like the enemy is fighting you! Keeping your block up empties your posture bar faster and the more you hit the deflect button the smaller the deflect window gets so you're incentivised to keep your block up and only hitting the deflect button when a hit comes your way. Pulling off a boss fight while never taking a hit and always hitting your deflections is hypnotizing because it creates a certain rhythm to the combat to the point where it starts to feel like you're playing a really violent version of 'Guitar Hero'. The game's level design is more akin to the first Dark Souls than the later ones but it still doesn't reach the same level of interconnectedness as that game did. I think that's a shame because being able to reach every part of the game world by walking there and using shortcuts is one of the things that made me fall in love with the Souls games, yet it hasn't made a full-hearted return in any FromSoft title since. There are shortcuts you can open in this but since you can fast travel between sculptor's idols from the beginning they become effectively pointless. It's certainly not a dealbreaker but it's something that contributed so greatly to my enjoyment of 'Dark Souls' that I'll never stop looking for it in FromSoft games. Attack, attack, attack! That's the name of the game in 'Sekiro'. Hesitate, and you lose. That is the way of war. The sooner you realize that, the easier the combat will be. The replay value in this game doesn't lie with different builds and experimentation with different playstyles but rather with how fast and flawlessly you can get through levels and kill enemies without taking damage yourself. Like all FromSoft titles your skill at the combat relies on rote learning but it's more akin to a hack and slash like 'Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance' rather than an RPG or a traditional action-adventure game. You don't get scored per level but if you want to replay the game to see if you can breeze through old challenges in seconds that had you previously stuck for hours while adding a bit of style and spectacle to it then there's plenty of replay value to be had. Posted: 31 Mar 2020 04:07 AM PDT So I got the game the other day, and worked my way up to the chained ogre and Samurai behind him. Since then I carried on through, found the owner of the huge ass snake skin I saw, which was a lovely surprise, and once I got done playing with the one eyed snake, I carried on into the castle gate area and met my first actual boss, Gyoubu. He rode around like he owned the place, but he didn't expect me to be such an earwig, little did he know one of the guards from the area right before him told me how his horse got startled pretty easily. Big mistake. Using this information, coupled with my aggressively mediocre Shinobi sword play, saw me topple this guy fairly trouble free. Then I moved onto the next area, dealt with a few 'rats' and ran into my next bump in the road, a flaming bull. I might have been incredibly lucky, or it may be a legit strategy, but I just kept running and it just kept working, and I ended up killing it second try. Then I entered the central city area where the castle actually is, and the area went fairly smoothly, taking out soldiers and their superiors, until I decided to go full spiderman, and my first 'oh yeah it's a From game' moment happened. Who's bright idea was it to give the ninja furballs the power of kites? There I was, casually taking them out on rooftops, when Billy big bollocks decides to give me a mild heart attack by divebombing me from his fucking kite, but apart from that it all went swimmingly. After that small fiasco, I made my way through the tower, taking out its inhabitants, and up to the top, where I found that SOAB that cut my arm off at the start of the game. Payback time I thought to myself, but it was not payback time, not yet. He kicked my ass a good dozen times before I managed to learn his moveset enough to take down both of his red dots, but I was barely clinging to life myself. And then he pulled a hell of a doozy on me, all of this was just a freaking warm up. Oh yeah, it's a From game alright. Full pikachu mode took me another 10 tries, mainly due to perfecting stage one to the point where he could barely hurt me, but I have now slain my foe... Wait what he got up again and did a runner. Great. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share my journey so far. [link] [comments]

Is the reflect mechanic really just “mash reflect” or is it just an exaggeration? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:44 AM PDT Stopped at lady butterfly some time after release (dies more times to her than literally any boss fight in any game in my entire life). I couldn't figure out reflect timing... so my question is if the reflect mechanic is really just mashing reflect or properly timing it? If it's proper timing, is it "it LOOKS like it shouldn't reflect, but it does" kinds of timing (reflecting when it feels like you pressed it too early), or "be as precise as humanly possible" timing (it looks like it shouldn't work and thus it doesn't)? What are some combat arts YOU find useful? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:09 AM PDT I recently came back to the game after having not played for a while, and was struck by the number of combat arts I either hadn't tried, or hadn't found very useful. Obviously I get a lot of fun out of the Ichimonjis and Mortal Draws, but I've generally found little utility for the others. But then I thought about how it'd never occurred to me that the Mist Raven could be useful until I saw people using it for lightning reversals. Perhaps there are also people who've found uses for the other combat arts. So please tell me what uses you've found for different combat arts, besides Ichi and Mortal Draw. I wanna learn! I'll start. I found the High Monk was good for getting some HP damage on humanoid enemies while they were blocking, e.g. the Snake Eyes in the Gun Fort and some of the Lone Shadows. The opening kick sneaks around their guard. [link] [comments] |
