How sekiro fixed the stun lock problem in action games

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 11:42 PM PDT

Super armor or poise if you are a souls player, means how powerful your character stance is while attacking if you have a high poise enemies can not interrupt your combo string and if they have a high poise you can't stunlock them

So enemies should have enough poise to prevent the player from spamming attack but not so much that you can only chip damage the enemies, that makes the player feels weak and it will be a boring battle

Only a few action games can make good use of this like bayonetta, metal gear rising and ninja gaiden But usually in most game you either feels so OP or feel super weak because you can't stagger anyone you can only damage them slowly

Enemies that wield Shields can be more interesting than normal ones if you attack them with melee weapon your sword will probably bounce of and it makes distinct sound (credo in DMC 4 for example) Usually you should attack them until their guard/posture is broken or you can break their shield entirely in some cases

Now how sekiro fix this Most enemies wield a weapon spear, katana, claws and they respond to your attack by blocking it and will deflect if you put too much pressure on them This mechanic makes enemies immune to stunlock(except some lesser enemies and certain combat arts that ignore guard)but instead of dealing chip damage you are breaking their guard/posture and you feel the impact(sound design and visuals makes it even better)that's why fighting beastly enemies feels boring and they can't just make everything a humanoid enemies it will be repetitive and im not saying that every action game should put a deflecting mechanic in their game but i think sekiro took a smart approach to this aspect of gameplay

Thank you for reading my post And have a nice day!

    First game ever beat solo!!

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 10:33 PM PDT

I finally beat this game after three weeks! This is the first real game I've ever played alone start to finish (due to anxiety), and I don't think I'll be able to play anything else for a long time. Everything about it was incredible. If anyone has any tips about trying for platinum, that would be greatly appreciated, since I think that might be the only logical next step for me now! :)

Holy crap I finally beat lady butterfly

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 07:56 PM PDT

After probably FIFTEEN HOURS I beat her. It might have been more. I'm so fucking ecstatic. This is my first fromsoft game I've ever really gotten into. I played bloodborne for a few hours but was really turned off from it by how punishing it was. But this game is amazing. I'm really bad at it, now at a playtime of almost 40 hours but its a lot of fun. Now with my upped attack I should be able to hopefully get through Genichiro (: I've gotten to his third phase once already but then he messed me up and havent been able to get there again.

I am no longer the puppy

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 12:00 PM PDT

I finally beat lady butterfly. Took many many tries but in the end I got it done. Got her to second life taking no damage and then the fun began. The butterflies are annoying but was able to eat some of the damage when I couldnt pull off the dodge.

Finally, no longer the puppy. I am Wolf!!
