Beat Sekiro for the 7th time, did NG +4 (demon bell, charmless) Isshin royally kocked me, got my last achievement and took a shitty pic, now i feel empty again

Took me 45 minutes on my first playthrough to beat the sword saint. Kinda hoped it lasted longer because I was anticipating this fight from the beginning, but it really showed me that if you git gud and understand the combat mechanics, the game becomes easy.

I just beat both Owl fights, and what can I say except "wow"

    Posted: 17 Jul 2020 12:06 AM PDT

These fights were legitimately the most fun I've had fighting a boss since Knight Artorias in Dark Souls. Learning his tells and how to go about the fight in general gave me a massive sense of accomplishment when I beat him both times.

Learning that he's going to finish his combo with two quick slashes when he spins around after the second swing during his Great Shinobi fight, that he'll let out a devastating Firecracker slash after a shoulderbash followed by a sword swing in his Father fight, and that the best way to fight him is to chase after him and keep as much pressure on him as possible made me feel like each battle was more of a learning experience than a very likely death.

Genichiro was a skill check to see if I could deflect and get into a rhythm of attacking to bait a deflection to prepare with a deflection of my own, and both of Owl's fights made damn sure I got a rock solid grasp on that, especially his Father fight, as well as my ability to recognize tells and patterns. I know I'll easily call Owl one of my favorite bosses in video gaming history and Sekiro as one of my favorite games of all time.

    Thank you, FromSoftware.

Hey all. I've just finished the 2nd corrupted monk fight and reached the area with the 2 underwater 'headless' bosses but have no idea where I'm supposed to go from here. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Random as this sounds, anyone think the Divine Child and Kuro are cute?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 05:16 PM PDT

At first, I was kinda annoyed that everyone was so emotionless, so when kuro did something that made him feel like an actual human by making the sweet rice, and he actually laughed, I laughed too. Also the Divine Child laughing at a persimmon was really cute. I am now personally attached to the both of them, and I felt really bad when she got sick. I also felt worse when she ate the viscera. No one hurt my bois. Also no spoilers pls!!!

[Help Needed ] - Game Keeps freezing for 1-2 Sec randomly ... how to fix it ? Please help

    Game freezing and stuttering

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 04:24 PM PDT

EDIT2: Rolling back to older an Nvidia driver (446.14 in particular) appears to have solved this issue for me! Thanks to /u/thunderblade9 and /u/gilfordtan who have recommended that, I appreciate it! To be safe, I will report back once more as I go a bit deeper into the game, but I think this is it. Hopefully if someone's reading this sometime in the future, newer drivers have the issue with Sekiro sorted out.

Apologies if this post is out of place, I know this isn't supposed to be tech support, but I'm at a loss. I run into issues where the game freezes and acts like it's going to crash, but goes back to being fine after about a 3-5 second freeze. Short video example - the first 30 seconds should be telling enough. The game runs at stable framerate the specs I have shouldn't be an issue at all, I just can't for the life of me understand those nosedive freezes.

I've combed over the subreddit and the Steam discussion for solutions to identical issues though nothing suggested that I've tried has worked. Only thing I'm unwilling to do is a fresh windows installation. I don't believe it's hardware as everything else I play plays just fine and it happens regardless of settings and fixes I try to apply that are mentioned on reddit threads and Steam forums. I'm very close to throwing in the towel and refunding for the time being, but as a last resort, I'm asking here if anyone has resolved similar issues?

Additional info and things that I've tried:

I have an aging PC but it doesn't struggle with running any other newer stuff with lower settings

    i5-2500k OC'd to 4.5

    1060 3 GB

    16 GB 2133 Mhz RAM

Game is installed on a relatively fresh 7200 rpm HD

Regardless of settings, which default to high with relatively stable 50-60 FPS, setting them all to low doesn't do anything.

I have the latest Nvidia drivers (451.67)

    What exactly have you tried?

List is exhausting, but from scouring the forums for solutions that apparently helped people with similar issues:

    Basic troubleshooting stuff first:

    • Setting CPU priority to high in the task manager.

    • Using lowest graphics settings

    • A number of different resolutions + running in windowed, fullscreen, borderless

    • Using keyboard only

    • Updating all drivers

    • Turning off the Nvidia in game overlay and everything with that function

    • Running a memtest for faults, all is good

    When all that failed:

    • Monitored component temperatures - they are within normal ranges, CPU is at about 70% usage regardless of settings except it spikes up to 100% for a couple of seconds when those freezes happen. FPS is stable otherwise as seen in the video in the upper left. Video was also made with all settings on low.

    • Disabled all non primary monitors, as per PCGamingWiki this has been an issue for me in odd game here and there as they have different refresh rates but it did not help in this case.

    • Disabled Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator which apparently helped people as per this comment thread. It didn't help in my case.

    • Tried using SpecialK which apparently deals with such issues with no success, though admittedly I probably didn't tweak it as much as I should because at this point I have spent an hour of game time troubleshooting and I'm bordering the time limit for a refund. Why do I need external stuff for the game to work properly anyway?

If I had more time I'd delve into SpecialK more and hope that it works, but I'm scared that it doesn't and then I'm all out of luck for a refund. Might as well refund and get it some other time at this point.

EDIT: As per comments in thread I will try using older drivers and report back.

    Is Sekiro Worth Buying?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 02:47 PM PDT

Hello everyone, my family and I recently purchased a PS4 for the first time and I've been thinking about buying Sekiro.

When the game first came out I saw a couple of my favourite streamers playing it and I was fairly interested. My parents were willing to buy me the game, but I wanted to make a post in this subreddit asking for people's opinions because I assume everyone here has already played through the game multiple times by now, and ask how much you enjoyed playing the game and if you feel like it is worth the price it has been set for ($79.99 CAD).

Please be respectful in the comments and thank you for answering my question if you have the time to :)
