How was Genichiro trained by the (spoilers)

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 05:11 PM PST

A while ago I made a post on Genichiro learning the way of Tomoe rather than the Ashina style and it has had me thinking of how he learned it from Tomoe and the Okami clan?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Okami clan go to war with the Ashina clan? Why would Genichiro be allowed to train with Tomoe despite her being part of the okamis?

This has me asking how exactly did Genichiro come across Tomoe to be trained by her and did Isshin allow it and if so, why would he let his adopted grandson train with the enemy clan?

This also has me wondering, how did Tomoe die it's unlikely it was after she attempted immortal severance seeing as she didn't try the purification route so that couldn't have been what lead to her death so how could she have died?

Is this game possible for me?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:30 PM PST

Update: I feel a bit silly now. I went and did some digging in my tv's menus, and I realized I did not have the right settings. Turns out that this boss is a lot easier without a ton of input lag. Still challenging, but it only took three tries once I fixed the issue. Hoping the game will feel like I've been training in higher gravity now. Thanks for the help everyone!

I can't beat Jinsuke Saze. It's not a matter of misunderstanding the combat or the tell or any of that stuff. I've beaten every Souls game, and every boss in most of them, but I just do not have the reaction time to beat this boss. It's not possible. The game is asking me to do something that my body is incapable of. I know there are other ways to cheese him, but my broader question is if I should even be bothering. If this task is physically beyond what I am capable of, is it worth wasting the time trying to continue with the game?

Edit: I thought I was clear here, but this doesn't seem to be getting through. I know you're supposed to watch his sheath. I know you are supposed to parry his blows. I know how the boss works. I just don't have the reaction time to do it.

Key Quality of Life Features That Take Sekiro To a Higher Level When Compared to Bloodborne.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 11:44 AM PST

After my marathon battle against the DoH, I needed a break from Sekiro. That break lead inevitably back to Bloodborne. I made some solid progress and enjoyed the different aesthetics and combat but what struck me, in a bad way, was the absence of some key quality of life features that Sekiro has and Bloodborne does not.

    1. Start points right next to Boss fights (with some exceptions in the case of sub-bosses). In a game where dying a lot is inevitable makes a massive difference to sustaining the flow against a difficult boss. I know Bloodborne has short cuts but it's still a pain in the arse.
    2. No need to farm for blood vials, the refilling of your gourds solves that problem.
    3. Resetting the area at the Idol, not possible in Bloodborne.

There may be more that I've missed but these are the ones that really hit me after playing Sekiro a lot over the last few months. I still love Bloodborne but these little niggles take the edge of the enjoyment after a while.

Sekiro has unlocked something inside of me.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 02:43 PM PST

I never, ever thought that I'd enjoy a FromSoftware as much as Sekiro. I tried Dark Souls years ago and found it terribly cluncky and far from enjoyable. Back then I was a HUGE COD fan and preferred the competitive gameplay and didn't really understand the concept of a (what I thought at the time) punishing aspect of games such as DS. I've also enjoyed a lot of story driven games too, such as the assassin's creed series, the third installment being my ultimate favourite.

I kept that mentality for many years, until I discovered Bloodborne about 2 years ago. It completely blew me away. I'm a massive fan of lovecraftian horror fan so I was surprised that I hadn't tried it sooner. It took me so long to get to grips with the controls and timing of the combat but I slowly got to grips with it and fell in love. But that love was shortly lived as I got stuck on that God damn Gatling gun section hahaha (the shame). I just throw myself into the lore and forgot about the whole thing, until Sekiro about 3 months ago.

It is a breath of fresh air to have such an incredibly balanced FromSoftware game, the movement has so much flow and it feels like I'm actually progressing into a more skilled character. The skill tress and stats are no way near as intimadating as previous games and the NPCs seem to have a lot more depth to them. When I die in the game it doesn't feel unfair in any way, sure, sometimes when there is a millimetre of health on a boss and they get the finishing blow in, I get angry but I've realised that's just a part of the progression. There is no better feeling than having that "penny drop" moment in the middle of an intense battle, that you've tried 12 times, back to back of each other. I feel like I finally get these games.

I'm currently stuck on Corrupted monk, Guardian Ape and Shichimen Warrior (plus the 2 headless battle but I'm just focusing on those other 3 at the moment.)

Thanks for reading and I hope you all Dragon Rot free!

    Lady Butterfly phantom kunai

    Posted: 05 Mar 2021 12:23 AM PST

Hi there. I was wondering whether there is any safe defense from Lady Butterfly's phantom kunai attack. I'm not referring to the fifeflies she summons after the illusions, but to the attack she does while fighting on the ground. I usually try to dodge them but it sometimes gets me hit by her attacks. I don't struggle with the fight at all, I'm just curious about this because it is one of the two attacks I don't know how to defend from (the other being the Chaos Demon's fireballs, depending on my positioning and barring the Umbrella).

    [PS4] Senpou Temple Enemy Bug?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2021 12:14 AM PST

Wondering if anyone else has had this happen: going through Senpou Temple on NG+ and 90% of the enemies wont attack me, including the Armored Knight.

The AK just sat there taking hits from me the whole fight without attacking once. His character model would make a small movement like he was going to do something but then it would reset back to the same position he was in.

Other enemies would sometimes dodge but ultimately never attack. And then very few enemies like the assassins in Shugendo behaved somewhat normally.
