Man buys used copy of Sekiro, receives the game and a complimentary bag of passion fruits (which are said to reduce anxiety). Seller says he’ll “need them to play the goddamn game”.

    Face me Sekiro

Not sure if anyone else knows this but you can repel Isshin’s Ashina’s Ichimonji: Double?

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:23 PM PST

    Edit: Sorry, stagger/disrupt. Not repel.

I'm talking about old Isshin, with Emma, haven't tried this on Sword Saint. His Ichimonji: Double is very telegraphed and if you stand right in his face, if you time it right, not only can you deflect the hammer coming down you will also stun him and send him stumbling backwards. I find it odd that I haven't seen anyone do it on YouTube. Not only is it bad ass and more satisfying than running away or circling behind him, the stun he receives leaves him wide open for a very powerful follow-up attack.

I guess, the mechanic of this, in From's mind, is that Isshin is old while Wolf is in his prime, so it's essentially a battle of brute strength, much in the way that Emma loses her balance after that 4-hit combo. Since it only works when you're right in his face, Wolf prevents him from generating power. I think it's a pretty cool tactic that's never explained in the game.

I'm actually disappointed to see many of this boss fight on YouTube. Everyone cheeses the hell out of this boss, no one deflects his Ashina Cross, hardly anyone jumps like they're supposed to. But I find it hard to believe than no one else deflects Isshin's I:D. It takes a while to figure out the mechanic and doing it wrong means you get hammer slashed twice in a row but man is it so satisfying once you figure it out, only works in his first phase, tho.
