(Spoilers) The amount of measurable growth you go through while playing this game is insane

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:57 PM PDT

About a month ago I started playing Sekiro right after beating the Dark Souls series. My FromSoftware marathon seemed to come to an end as I couldn't get my head around the combat system. I made posts about how parrying wouldn't work or about how The Seven Spears mini-boss was kicking my ass and how it was the hardest boss in the game. I was pretty much a little bitch my whole way through the beginning areas. Just an hour ago I finally beat Isshin the Sword Saint and have completed my journey through Miyazaki's masterpieces. Isshin killed me at least 40 times. I've been playing it since 3:30 and just beat it at 8 (I know... healthy). I seriously considered quitting on tons of occasions and was ready to just move on to another game like Sekiro never happened. The time that I beat it felt like every other accept for 2 things: I died to Genichiro which had never happened before, and I had the least amount of resources for the fight. I had used all my Jizu Statues, extra lives, and Akos sugar in the attempt before. My point is that I was at the biggest disadvantage of any attempt before. When I died to Genichiro I felt compelled to revive although it would have meant that I couldn't die once more through the rest of the fight. Anyway; I nearly had a stroke when I beat him and had to go for a run in order to calm down. Next on the gaming list is Hollow Knight and God of War.

Thanks for reading my terrible rambling and I hope you have an amazing quarantine.

There are some really great moments in Sekiro, but this one is by far my favourite

Some people speedrun. Some people get platinum. I'm going to beat this game without dying. After dozens of attempts I've taken down Genichiro without a death. This is my best run yet, and though I have high hopes, I am prepared to die.

My brother said the boss of sekiro was George Lopez. It felt good beating George Lopez.

Can you be too prepared? (first play through)

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:30 PM PDT

    Hey folks

It's my first time going through Sekiro and I broadly like it. Its unlike any other game I've played. What I'm getting discouraged by, though, is that I am a type of gamer that absolutely loves being as strong and prepared as I can for a fight and having that get me through the tough times.

This strategy does not seem to work with Sekiro. I grind out skill points, collect the most prayer beads and gourd seeds for my point in the game, make sure that I have all available prosthetics and upgrades where mats are available, etc. But no matter how prepared I am, I still get stuck on fights that I see people on Youtube beating with half my health bar and not using any prosthetics. It can be really disheartening!

Is it really just as simple as 'git gud? Am I sabotaging my progress by overthinking and researching strategies instead of just focussing on the basics?

Any suggestions or support are very welcome!

Defeated Genichiro, cutscene glitched and took me back to the nearest idol, now have to fight him again

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 11:39 PM PDT

I am absolutely livid. After 2 hours on this magnificent specimen, after I finally kick his ass, I get the first second of the cutscene and immediately sends me back to the idol.

Has this happened to anyone else? At least the fight isn't that hard, but goddamn.

D.O.H. on my first play through or NG+?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 07:43 PM PDT

Just wanted to get some opinions on when to try to fight this guy. I didn't know if it would be easier or more difficult if I waited to fight him until NG + ? I just beat isshin the sword saint and am anxious to dive back in for the shura ending. If NG+ makes it super hard to kill the doh though I may just fight him there until I do. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

After days of training, I could finally best him. It felt amazing.

    Endings

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:56 PM PDT

This might be a dumb question..

I have the shura, purification endings,

Going for immortal severance, how do i go about this ending? Just beat the dragon and give kuro the tears? Or do i need anything else? Saving dragons return till last,

    Thanks in advance
