Eerily familiar to a Sekiro scene hmmmmmmm

Sad it's over, glad I played it; 100% the game at 41hrs! This game's amazing.

Found them right next to each other. I can imagine them outside on opposite sides of the same street with signs and a stand trying to get voters for their side. Go cast your votes, people!

Just beat Gyoubu...I'm shaking...that shit was hard.

Just beat this old man. Holy shit I took 3 days to finally learn all his phase. Don’t ever crawl out of someone else’s body again. Anyways, I love Sekiro and all its combat system.

Well, i tried ! (single take, pen strokes)

Just beat the Demon of Hatred... Anyone else struggle with him as well?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 04:11 PM PDT

Currently in my first playthrough and wanted to experience all the boss fights I could so opted for purification ending. To be sure, it took me quite awhile to get used to the new flow of things / mechanics of combat and to break my BB instinct to dodge everything (my skills are still far from perfect). Then, enter DoH. This guy is literally ripped right out of BB, and parrying is all but useless. Combined with that and the fact that this guy required 3 death blows and the annoying af charge attack, this guy pushed me almost to my breaking point... BUT, after what seemed like an eternity and several long hours, finally got him.

TLDR: Fuck Demon of Hatred, arguably my toughest boss (Owl(Father) also giving him a run for his money). But he's in a better place now.

    IMMORTALITY SEVERED

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 02:10 PM PDT

Most rage inducing game I’ve played since hollow knight.

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:53 PM PDT

I'm a souls veteran excluding blood borne as I don't have a PS4 and I adore those game, I got extremely good at them and learned everything I could about the mechanics, I loved to play extremely aggressive so this games aggressive play style fits me rather well, I enjoy the combat up to a certain point.

Here's my issue, I'm at the hirata estate or whatever it is, and this has been awful ever since I got here I've died at least 20-30 times here. I don't understand the timings for the deflects or anything really, I'm not even sure we have I-frames while dodging which I'm fairly used to. But it seems non existent this game so far has been brutally punishing and I've just got no idea how to get past the drunkard at all, I had a fairly easy time the shinobi hunter dude and I nearly beat genichiro in the beginning fight(I know I face him later on) any tips on deflects dodges and anything would be super helpful after my 20th or so death to this drunkard dude I lost it and broke a headset so I'm taking a break and coming to the more experienced people of this game as I clearly have no clue what I'm doing apparently.

TL:DR Games really hard need tips for deflects dodging etc, broke a headset which hasn't happened since path of pain/nightmare Grimm from hollow knight.

Does Sekiro ever dial it down from 11?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 04:13 PM PDT

Just got the game and played for a few hours. I like it so far, even though it's obviously harder than hell. My question is whether it ever lets up for stretches. I know it's not going to get easier, but so far it's either a boss or a mini boss every minute. Is that the pacing for the whole game? I'd like a stretch where I'm just exploring and taking out common enemies to chill a bit.

So...i just beat the Guardian Ape

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 01:27 PM PDT

That boss was such a rush! On my first attempt the Guardian Ape felt too punishing and hard for me,so then instead of attacking i observed its moves and oh boy did it pay off,all it took was to study its moves and boom! Dead. And then i got to the second phase after it bamboozled me. I'll be honest with you, once you learn how to pull out the centipede using the spear then the second phase is way easier, overall very fun and interesting fight! Definitely one of my favorite Sekiro Bosses(and for those who are stuck on it remember these 3 words: NEVER GIVE UP!)

    Fountainhead Palace Boosts In-Game Luck

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:14 AM PDT

Defeating the Monk triggers an in-game effect.

Last week I decided to Re-Platinum the game on a seperate account, so as to re-experience it after almost a year.

I never upgraded the Senpou Text tree, even when I got it in the first few hours. I simply stuck with the Demon Bell for farming when it called for it.

At some point after defeating the True Corrupted Monk, I noticed that the normal Foot Soldiers gave me Scrap Megnetite, something that NEVER happened to me before.

And so I smacked the Demon Bell and hopped back onto my old farming spot in the Main Hall area of the Senpou Temple, and all three Twin Blade Monks gave me Scrap Magnetite instead of Iron; which was normal.

Then I went strolling down the mountain and I even managed to obtain Yellow Gunpowder and Grave Wax from the Monks.

It appears to improve the Quality of drops, such as Scrap Iron becoming Scrap Magnetite, uncommon drops going from Scrap Magnetite to Adamantite Scraps; etc.

This is NOT the effect of the Demon Bell, as that appears to boost drop rates, NOT item quality.

What happens if the first time you die is after Divine Dragon?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:03 PM PDT

So in NG+, the first time you fully die starts the Dragonrot quest. You wake up in the temple to the sick Sculptor, and Emma eventually gives you the Recovery Charm.

But after beating Divine Dragon, the Sculptor leaves, and Emma permanently goes to the Castle. What happens if you die for the first time after that point?

Does the Dragonrot just not happen? Or does it still hit NPCs even though you have no way to cure it? Is there an alternate quest with Emma that doesn't involve the Sculptor?

    EDIT:

So I asked this because I was on track for a deathless run and didn't want to throw it, but then I finally died to the spear miniboss on the way to Sword Saint.

And... nothing happened. No Dragonrot. I finished the game with the Purification ending and then killed myself something like 10 times in a row by standing in fire or letting zombies eat me. Still no Dragonrot.

I have active NPCs that I've talked to that can be infected, like all the Mob merchants, the Temple merchant, Doujun, and the praying woman, but they're all fine.

Maybe you can't accrue Dragonrot after Sword Saint, but I definitely died once before then.

This was NG+5, if that makes a difference.

Aside from the "On-Script" unavoidable boss fights, can Sekiro be played completely in stealth?

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 11:44 PM PDT

I mean the mob, the mini-bosses, etc? I haven't played a game with optional stealth mechanics in a while, and I've seen the stealth montage videos of Sekiro in YouTube and now I'm curious.

Can I run through this whole game sneak-killing every mob and mini-boss? Similar to Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, mobs can be abused with stealth, but the boss fights can't.

    Thanks!
