About the Language Setting of the game

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 11:06 PM PDT

So I'm planning to buy this game soon. Is there a different version of the game that separates Japanese and English voices, or is it included on the option? If it's the latter, can I switch it so I can experience the story in both Japanese or English. Does the Japanese have subs in them? Thanks

Genichiro has pushed me to a dark place

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 11:27 AM PDT

I have recently finished dark souls 3, loved every second of it and managed to solo Midir, Nameless King, Gael etc with difficulty but with a sense of attainable challenge.

Genichiro however I just cannot do, last weekend he pushed me to the point where I threw the game box at the wall then frisbeed the disk out of the kitchen window in sheer rage.

I went to retrieve the disk and remarkably it still works, so I saw this as a sign and tried again using the shadowrush technique to get him to 3rd phase each time but would then be nervous and bottle it.

One day, my friends, I will overcome him as I think the game is fantastic. That purple dragon Midir however never pushed me to such lengths of crippling self loathing.

Have any of the sekiro bosses pushed you to such dire feelings of woe? One thing I do love about the Fromsoftware games is the communities, it's a great feeling knowing that many others out there are struggling as much as me.

Mod idea - Brutal finishers mod

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 11:03 PM PDT

Looking to relieve some stress? Want to take revenge on some of your favorite bosses? Then brutal finishers mod is for you!

All finisher deathblows are now replaced with a brutal, mortal combat-esque execution. Some examples are Lady Butterfly being set on fire then cleaved in half, Genichiro being decapitated and suplexed off the roof, the Corrupted Monk being stabbed in the face by her own naginata, and Isshin being destroyed by all of his cheating weapons at once.

Bosses are also slightly easier (25% less damage and health, less aggressive ai), for a stress-free experience.

Overall, I think it would be cool for veteran players who want to relieve their stress on Sekiro, or just wanna get some revenge for the trauma of beating this game.

The bosses in this game are such good teachers

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 03:19 PM PDT

I've never been that great at videogames and my first fromsoftware experience was intimidating as hell. Died 30+ times to Ogre, lady butterfly and Genichiro. Yesterday I fought Isshin sword saint and beat him on my 8th attempt. I started ng+ today and fought every enemy up until beating Genichiro without dying. Thanks to everyone creating content and helping people here on reddit. Best game I've ever played Hesitation is defeat..

[spoilers] Is there a lore reason for some bodies disintegrating?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:08 PM PDT

You kill a normal or mini-boss human and the body remains. You kill Guardian Ape the first time and the entire thing fades away, centipede and all, yet it's still alive because you hear it roar again in the distance and have to fight it at the other cave. You kill the Guardian Ape again and the ape body fades away, but the centipede carcass remains.

So maybe undying characters just do the same as Wolf and effectively respawn until their immortality severed. Except Lady Butterfly and Owl also disintegrate when they die, so is it also a shinobi trick to leave no evidence behind? Is it purely just a stylistic choice for boss and large mini-boss deaths?

I feel like I'm probably putting too much thought into this, but everything else in this game is incredibly well thought out and they just leave it to you to figure out.

Lady Butterfly (No Damage/Tools/Items, Base Attack/Vitality) - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Anyone experiencing freezing after Nvidia driver update?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 08:25 PM PDT

I have a GTX 1060 and a new driver came out today ( version 451.48) I installed it and now when I play Sekiro about every 5-10 minutes the game completely freezes for about 10 seconds. Is anyone having this issue? The PC itself isn't freezing because I can alt tab out back to the desktop. I'm thinking of backdating my driver's to the previous version.

LPT: Umbrella is seriously super good.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2020 04:12 PM PDT

After testing for some times with the prosthetic tools, I just realise how fucking good the umbrella is. It trivialised and give you an edge over so many of the bosses' moves. It's the only thing in the game that can block grab, and get this, it can deflect attacks that knock you back even if you deflect it (where Sekiro does this animation where he brakes with his sword) without knocking you back, giving you ample time to project force back with great damage (higher than your regular dodge to attack and safer than Ichimonji D), its upgrades can block fire and terror, all that at the low low low cost of 1 spirit emblem.

Hear's the list of all the moves (in my testing) in it can trivialise:

    • Chain orge's grab, Snake Eyes's grab, Guardian's Ape grab, all the grabs that fuck you up can be neutralised with a press of a button
    • Snake Eye's kick into shot can be deflected with umbrella and return for great damage. Similarly, you can turtle through the gun fort with just the umbrella.
    • It completely fucks over the Ashina's Elite.
    • It can block all the incoming butterflies (you have spin it if you don't want your posture to break), and return for MASSIVE damage.
    • It can block terror scream, even the magnet version.
    • Neutralise bosses who do lots of knockback attacks like Corrupted Monk or a certain father, then safely projected force back with great damage.
    • You can just turtle under the umbrella while a certain boss does his bullshit move where he vanishes and jumps on you.
    • The final boss's wind/fire charges move, all of them.
    • Again, all this with 1 Spirit Emblem

In conclusion, the umbrella allows to stand your ground at attacks that would have you scramble to run away, giving you ample time to return great damage. It's too bad that I only discovered this after finishing the game, doing this first time would make the game so much more enjoyable.
