Why Sekiro is my favourite game of all time

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 11:09 AM PST

I know this post will probably be buried, but i wanted to just describe why i adore this game with all of my heart. Trigger warning for su**ide

Back when this game came out, i was at an extremely low point in my life. I just didnt feel like anything mattered anymore and came close to ending it. But before i went, i decided to buy and play sekiro, the last game id ever play and it was from..FROM. I sucked at this game, the parry deflect system i just couldnt master. The blazing bull was my first proper roadblock where i just couldnt do it. But i decided to persevere. I took breaks and gave it a few attempts each time. eventually after the 4th hour i beat it. I dont believe ive ever felt such a satisfying rush from any game or experience. It made me feel extremely good. Ashina castle was when i began to get the combat system. The parry deflect system i played like a rhythm game, when they counter me i counter them, the swords clashing were the beats. I beat Genichiro first try, it made me feel even better. I knew i was learning the system and it made me feel confident. Snake eyes i struggled with, but persevered and passed. Lady butterfly was a non issue. The Monk barely stood a chance. I was fully engrossed in the game, the characters, the gameplay, the world, the lore, everything. The parry deflect system became my favourite combat of all the soulslike games.
The Final boss gave me 10 hours worth of trouble, but i eventually beat it. And when i beat it, i let out a scream of joy. I felt amazing, im not sure what changed in me but something did. It felt like i overcame a huge obstacle. I enjoyed the game so much i platinumed it in the week i bought it.
I dont want this post to drag, so ill end it off here.
But this game just gave me an incentive to continue, i wanted to experience more media like this. Media that got me as interested as i was in sekiro.
So yeah, thats my little thing. I just thought id share it. This game deserved GOTY and im extremely happy it got what it deserved. Super excited to see what FROM brings with elden ring.
    Dont go hollow!

Literally spent 20 mins on one boss fight!

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 05:56 PM PST

I've been recording my wins against Sekiro bosses and, typically, a boss fight lasts 5mins or 8 if its particularly hit and run like Guardian Ape.

But I just beat Hatred Demon. After 10 or 15 so times of him ruining me and realising I was being greedy I decided to take my time. Only get 2 or 3 hits max in case he does his charge move which was the big killer. I figured out the whistle stuns him but saved it all until the very end of phase 2 for the Deathblow and phase 3.

Literally running around for 20 mins chipping away. Used every Gourd, used all my Pellets. Started dipping into my Rice supplies. Even had to use a Jizo statue since I had him halfway down on Phase 3.

Managed to do it! But man that was long. I didn't even want to attempt a Posture Break strategy. I would've been there for hours and hours!

    I finally beat genichiro!

All it took was 192 deaths and I started a second dragonrot pandemic (read a post I made about a week ago if you want to know how I started the first one) but I finally beat him! Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to cry in the shower.

I've beaten genichiro, so keeping in mind the unlocked places at that point could y'all help me with some good places for coin farming

How in the world do you deal with Inner Owl Father's Mist Raven

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 07:19 PM PST

Whenever I attack him, its a 50-50 chance whether he mist ravens or not. And if he does and you accidentally input a second swing, you just die because he deals a butt ton of damage and can break your posture easily. Also, how does he mist raven when you don't even attack him? I'll just be standing in one place, and them boom, he teleports over my head and I die. Yes I'm salty, but how do you deal with this?

I BEAT GENICHIRO AFTER 47283474929273 TRIES

    Posted: 12 Mar 2021 11:40 AM PST

HOLY FUCK YES I was stuck on this motherfucker for 4 days now. Every night 1-2 hours of same bullshit. But today I was regularly reaching his lightining stage with 5-6 gourd seeds left. This is SO overwhelming right now man. I fucked his ass to Kingdom come at the 283848th try though. Absorbed every lightining and gave him a taste of his own medicine.

Honestly, for me his lightining stage was WAY easier than his earlier one. All you have to do is to fuck around and wait for his lightining attacks and then just jump and send it back to him. You even go down slower so it becomes easier. And that's exactly what I did, man 3 times that and idk he wasn't even defending most of my other attacks. So Nightjar Slash spam it was lol. I finished with 4 gourd left and a fucking heartbeat that even I could hear.

I love this victory, imma stop playing for 2 days now just to savour this 👏👌
