Best game I have ever played.

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 05:05 PM PDT

This is the best video game I have ever played.

I grew up from the original Sega/Nintendo/PlayStation.

I was a pretty casual player but last year I bought a ps4 because Covid.

I had never even heard of fromsoft or been deep within the video game community.

This game took me weeks to even get slightly ok at. I have since platinumed sekiro and I feel like putting it on my resume even though no one else would understand that struggle/accomplishment.

The reward of getting half way decent at this game is similar to when I would win a competition with sports I played when I was younger. So glad there is a company that puts out games that require some dedication and frustration to beat.

I hope they make a sequel or something very similar. Ive read the main Guy isn't really into sequels but sekiro is masterpiece in my opinion and I hope something similar comes out.

I finally got to Isshin sword Saint

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 10:30 PM PDT

And I almost got his first health bar all the way down on the first try ;-). Not even close on the next 10 tries. I can already tell the massive jump in difficulty compared to all the rest I've faced so far. He's the fastest and hardest hitting out of them all, not to mention he has three phases on top of Genichiro beforehand.

I think I need to put down the controller for the night.

Beat Owl Father and Demon of Hatred Today

Leveled up all the prosthetics except for the final upgrade, farmed fulminated mercury, and traded a bunch of skill points for attack upgrades. It was a good Sekiro day.

    Death Of A Shadow

What could this relic of an ancient warrior mean?

is it normal to get one sot like this?

Is NG+ fun in this game?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 08:22 PM PDT

I beat the game in 2019 and liked it. Now 2021 I just beat it a second time and LOVED it! So much so that I also beat Demon of hatred this time. Man.. that was a boss and a half.

Now my question for you all is - is the NG+ fun in Sekiro? I just need more Sekiro in my life but I dont know if I should start a completely new save file or new game +?

Plus how does the vitality and posture upgrading work as Ive heard prayer beads do not come back in NG+ but are instead replaced by other items?

    Thanks!

The ending of the merchant questline devastated me.

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 07:29 AM PDT

"But you know...I'm not completely cleaned out. I still have this one sen. I'll...I'll take this one sen and turn it into a mountain of gold. When that happens...good sir, please come back to buy...something..."

    What the hell, man?

I don't know why this guy's death affected me so much, since for most of the game I kept expecting him to betray me in some way. I didn't even get this sad when my favourite FromSoft NPCs (Solaire, onion knights) or when other Sekiro characters died but jeez, his final speech was so well-written and voiced that it had me bawling into my pillow like a baby.

So yeah, thanks for the emotional trauma, Sekiro team! I hate you and I'll be back tomorrow to (hopefully) beat your game!

Been playing the souls games a long time, Sekiro is brutal.

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 11:19 AM PDT

I find this more difficult than the souls games, even the mini bosses are giving me hell, I am stuck on the drunk fatty at the estate, cant seem to kill this guy.

At least in the souls games I had more health consumables, I could level up and upgrade my gear, and I could get help online or from npc's...the npc here to "help" is only cannon fodder, wheres Solaire when you needem.

Did I rob myself the joy of beating Guardian Ape for the first time?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 07:16 PM PDT

I remember I watching the VideoGameDunkey Sekiro video while I worked on beating the Dark Souls games and being impressed/amazed/afraid of the guardian ape fight, when the end of the video hits and you see him come back I was like holy moly. I was prepared for it to be an intense fight.

For example, when I first beat Genchiro, it took me 3 hours and felt amazing to beat him. But when I finally fought Guardian Ape, I didn't find him all that hard. I beat him in less than 5 tries. I think the problem is I followed my friend's advice of skipping the fight and finishing Mibu Village and corrupted monk. I'm wondering if the extra memory from corrupted monk, 2 extra prayer bracelets, and the fully upgraded flame vent made this fight too simple

I didn't even watch any strategy videos for the fight like I did with Genchiro. I was pumped for another 3 hour long grind fest. I'm a bit upset that I didn't try to fight him when I first made my way through because the boss was honestly the quickest boss fight so far. I didn't need to parry or guard, just well time jumps/dodges and spamming the level 3 flame prosthetic just gave me so much free damage and free hits.

I guess there's always new game plus?

Great Shinobi Owl No HUD, and yes, he's still an asshole

Is there a way to fix this?

    We’ve come a long way

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 04:06 AM PDT

Just wanted to share that after 6 playthroughs of the game (now starting my 7th) I beat sword saint Isshin on my first try with no hits until the final phase, Genichiro included. This was my first time playing the game in over a year as well. It's a big difference from the 6 hours he took on my first try. Thanks to Sekiro for all the memories, both ones that give attack power and those in real life.
