    How to annihilate Inner Isshin...

Defeating Isshin charmless, bell demon, no healing every day until Elden Ring is out (day 77)

I realized something a few weeks ago

    Posted: 09 May 2021 10:04 PM PDT

Owl is the shadow that dies twice. Once in Hirata, and once in the lookout. Wolf even says death of a shadow when he beats Owl. This is funny because Owl set the events of the game into play. There are other characters whom this can apply to, but Owl is the best example. Just my two cents

New Players: let’s talk about that bell you rang

    Posted: 09 May 2021 08:43 PM PDT

I posted earlier today about my frustrations with this damn game and got some reassuring words from the community; thank you!

Anyhow, due to the encouragement I finally beat Madam Butterfly after maybe 100 attempts. Feeling good, I went back to Headless who should be easy, but got my butt whooped a half a dozen times before running out of confetti.

When you run out of confetti, you farm. When you farm, you look at your inventory. When you look at your inventory, you notice the Bell Demon. When you look at the Bell Demon, you google it. When you google it, you realize you've been playing this whole time on hard mode.

I used the Bell Demon and went back to Genichiro, who I had been trying to beat for days. I knew his moves like the back of my hand but just couldn't beat him.

Beat Genichiro on my first attempt tonight. Not even a fair fight I just destroyed him.

Please don't tell me the Bell Demon doesn't affect your stats during boss fights, because if that's true I don't want to know.

Morale: new to the game? Don't ring random bells.

6 new game pluses and I finally did it

    Posted: 09 May 2021 02:55 PM PDT

I finally beat the Shura ending (spoilersish)

    Posted: 09 May 2021 07:41 PM PDT

I don't know if it was because I was on NG+2 or not but I struggle more with Emma and Isshin than I did with Genichiro and Glock Saint Isshin.

I did not like this ending at all, no no no no no.

Whoever wrote this ending did a great job not letting your sense of accomplishment of beating Isshin last long and making you feel like Shura with just a few words.

    No Mibu balloon of XP...

    Posted: 09 May 2021 11:29 PM PDT

Don't you guys find it weird that there's no mibu balloon of XP? I guess you can get more from demon bell and of course NG+, but there should be a dedicated balloon I think.

Like many of you, I cheesed the DoH for the platinum, 1.5 years later I give him some tries and I can't believe I beat him... on NG+5 as well. This brings back the amazing feeling of beating every boss on the first playthrough

Which 1st Genichiro encounter outcome is canon?

    Talk me out of it

    Posted: 09 May 2021 03:36 PM PDT

I have had it with this game. Half way through. I have never in my entire life, in any game, been as GOOD in a boss fight as in this game. I will learn every single move set, have the timing down pat, and feel like I'm a god. But then, invariably, during the typical 7 or 8 hours of consistently executing amazing attacks and deflects, I'll get trapped by the god damn camera, or the target lock will fail, or some damned move that's impossible to block without full posture. ORRR, I'll finally destroy a boss only to be greeted with, "sorry, this boss has ONE MORE stage but this time with some lighting shit. Also the only way to learn this stage is to complete the first each time - sorry."

It's DISCOURAGING for someone who sucks at games in general to get so "good" at a particular fight only to have it slip when I only need to get in a few more strikes. Sometimes I'll watch a tips & tricks video on Youtube about a boss, only to learn that I'm doing it *better* than what's being shown in the video. Like I've figured it out but I CAN'T. GET. IT. ACROSS. THE. FINISH. LINE.

Been stuck on Madame Butterfly for ages. Came back with tons of vitality and attack power. I kick her ass royally in the first stage, no heals. Just when she's 3/4 to final posture break SOMETHING goes wrong. Target lock breaks and I lose her just as she decides to do some crazy un-blockable combo. Bullshit little lightning bug craptoids hit me from behind. The camera decides I don't need to see what's going on for a few seconds. It is *so* hard to want to do it one more time.

Look, I'm just griping. As someone who has played through the DS series a couple times now, I have never, ever felt so defeated or stuck. I have never felt so competent but simply unable to get the job done. All I have to do is press one button and it's uninstalled - I've got it all ready. I'm going to get up for a second to clear my head first. And if you tell me to git gud I'm also going to uninstall my whole computer so I don't have to look at reddit anymore.

Anyhow, what I'm really trying to say is: any sweet cheat codes for this thing? /s

Sword Saint Isshin - Final Phase - Help

    Posted: 09 May 2021 07:20 PM PDT

So I played and beat Sekiro a couple of years ago. I had a lot of time on my hands then and just got lucky in the final phase with a couple lightning deflections.

This time around I've been much better. My deflecting and mikiri counter are very good and I've got Isshin's first two phases down cold. But the final phase is a nightmare and I don't want to just get lucky after a hundred tries this time.

Has anyone found a plan of attack for this round? I'm mostly just running around trying not to die. I want to bait Isshin into a mikiri counter fight like the previous phase or learn his moveset like the first phase, but the final phase just seems like chaos.

Is there an approach you can take to bait Isshin into a tit for tat fight? Any consumables that help besides eel livers?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Going back to ds3 after 6 new game plus sekiro

    Posted: 09 May 2021 01:00 PM PDT

I played dark souls 1 and 3 twice before playing sekiro but in 3 weeks of having sekiro I have 6 new game pluses complete and only need a single combat art skill for the platinum trophy. I also just started a 3rd new playthrough on ds3 and did not find gundyr to difficult. What I'm wondering is does anyone here have experience playing both games in the same time span and if so does it mess with your skill at all cuz I know I'm gonna get back into ds3 as I've been enjoying it but I still need at least one more playthrough on sekiro or maybe more to get all that xp needed. And I don't want to come back to sekiro and be horrible with parry time as the bosses became mostly a first try thing after new game plus 3.

Also I still have 40 more hours on ds3 despite only having 2 files and honestly I'm excited to get back to a wider world with more weapon. And their both great games I really loved sekiro but if anyone who played both had to choose which one would you prefer.
