Nothing worse than coming back to this game after over a year and being absolute trash

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 05:16 PM PDT

Started a new game and currently stuck on lady butterfly, didn't want to resume my ng+ from over a year ago at fountainhead palace because it makes absolutely no sense considering how bad I am now. I remember breezing through lady b my ng+ run and now I'm struggling so hard. Pain. Time to get good again I guess.

    The Shura

Neither my Xbox One nor PS4 controller is working.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 10:12 PM PDT

I've played Sekiro multiple times for the last year, but for some reason when I started it up to play again today my controllers wouldn't work. I verified the integrity of game files and uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and nothing. I know the controllers still work cause I loaded up Hollow Knight and they worked fine, I'm on the latest version and have never installed any mods. If anyone has ever experienced this before or knows how to fix it any help would be appreciated.

    The first playthrough struggle

Took over a year long hiatus thanks to Genichiro

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 10:30 PM PDT

As a Bloodborne guy, I had too many bad habits for Sekiro. Only my Metal Gear and Tenchu skills from back in the day kept me afloat. At some point I had Seven Ashina Spears and Genichiro open, but they both just clobbered me. Repeatedly and quickly.

I turned it on for the first time in a while tonight with the mindset of grinding and practicing. I didn't have the umbrella yet and that's a pile of change, but I forced myself to work on block, parry, mikri counter, etc. Then I had two shots of vodka and crushed 7 Spears on the 3rd or 4th try.

Then on my first try, I finally got to death stab Genichiro once. It all suddenly clicked. Swinging makes you vulnerable. I almost had him to 2nd stab, but I can't foresee that jumping bow move quickly enough. I assume it's just like the old lady and you pluck him out of the sky with a shuriken, but it seems hard to predict.

Anyhow, much love to you all. Can't wait to see what happens when I rescue the kid tomorrow. I am ready. This won't take long. Any tips on where to spend my spirit emblems during the fight would be most welcome.

One of the few bullshit things in this game

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 12:55 AM PDT

Is the camera fucking dropping when an enemy is behind a pillar for longer than a second. It genuinely makes me rage especially during a tense boss fight like Owl Father

I feel like I cheesed the Guardian Ape so I wanted to put a feeler out there and see. (Codemn me or comfort me).

    Posted: 03 Jun 2021 12:32 AM PDT

So in the first phase I fought him fair and square mano a mano, deflecting, jumping getting up close, but after I realize he had a terror attack in his second phase that he spams when you are close, I just sprinted around him in wide circles until he ended his combo then I would pop an ako's sugar, and come in close for two quick slashes, hit and run, until he was dead. Kinda easy.

So what is it? Did I cheese him? How are you "intended" to fight him? Can I ever redeem my honor? Have I never lost it?

Finally did it! Endings question though

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 12:51 PM PDT

So after 2 days of trying, I finally downed Isshin, Sword Saint! I found his second stage the toughest and what I repeatedly died to. The first time I made it to stage 3, I brought him down (lightning reversal helped a ton). A month or so ago, I would have never assumed I would have beat this game, especially with how long I was stuck on Genichiro. Owl (Father) and Isshin definitely were the hardest bosses for me, in terms of punishing me for things I was able to slip by with on other bosses.

However, now I'm left with a conundrum. I'm in NG+ now, at the point where I have to decide if I am going to do the Shura or non-Shura endings. My question is, is it better to do a non-Shura again in NG+ and instead focus on finishing off the skill trees (only two skills left for me as I grinded a ton in my first play through, Shadowfall and Empowered Mortal Draw) and getting the last two prosthetic upgrades (only missing Lazulite Sabimaru and Lazulite Axe as again, I spent a lot of time grinding in NG)? Or should I do the Shura ending now and get it over with to unlock One Mind for NG+2? Either way I know I'll have to play NG+2 to get platinum (I save scummed Immortal Severance ending in my first playthrough as I just wanted to get it unlocked and never have to kill a kid again in an ending).

P.S. any tips for the gauntlets? I have been trying to do the Divine Heir one but Inner Genichiro whoops me so quickly with that new move he does.

Wish I could take Sekiro (incl. mechanics) inside other FromSoftware games. I would destroy the Soul of Cinder and parry the hell out of the Dancer.

    Done at Last!

Great game! But I gotta say, even after beating Isshin, I still think Guardian Ape was a harder fight!

I saw the end credits after sword taint. Now I can delete and move on.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 09:09 PM PDT

I died more on the final boss than all other bosses combined. I might have died more on the final boss than in my entire run. Hours and hours later I saw a little cut scene. I'm burned out and the difficulty only extended the length. If there were cheat codes I would have gladly used them. I now have no desire to spend any longer with this game. Back to DS 2.

I beat the game after 2 weeks on n off.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2021 09:06 PM PDT

Took maybe about 60 deaths maybe more? And a couple cases of Dragonrot but, got the Severance ending and am currently going onto the next play through there are about maybe 6 or 7 optional bosses I neglected, I have a harder time dealing with jinsuke the ashina elite than Isshin himself and istfg jinsuke sikes me out with his movements plus his chip damage. I know u tap block twice after u see a glint, but shit ig I am hesitating. Sabimaru definitely helps in the beginning of each phase.
