Sekiro - I'm actually gonna have a nervous breakdown

I'm actually gonna have a nervous breakdown

I was mistaken to assume there didn't exist any such people, but seeing recent comments, I stand corrected.

Defeating Isshin charmless, bell demon, no healing every day until Elden Ring is out (day 165)

5 weeks later… what a great game! First FS game and I couldn’t stop!

I have now just beaten all of Sekiro and have decided that this is the best fight in the whole game. Thoughts?

    Hahaha

Can we talk about how cool Owl is?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 12:19 PM PDT

Everything about this man just baffles me. His design, voice acting, and animations are flawless. He's cold, calculating, and wise, just like a real owl. I really like how he uses shinobi tactics in battle, such as poison, firecrackers, the anti-healing grenade, shuriken, and even the mist raven feathers. Honestly a game where you play as Owl would be so cool. Anyone else agree? He's definitely my favorite boss.

Sorry I’m sure these posts are a dime a dozen, but it finally “clicked”.

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 10:50 AM PDT

I just beat Owl guy at the top of Ashina and holy fuck it felt so good. I didn't try to cheese him or run away and get stray hits. I buckled down and learned to parry him and it felt so damn good to go toe to toe with him. It felt so intractable at first and now I feel as though I've "gotten good". Can't wait to keep playing(I'm on my first play through obviously).

To make this a discussion, did you have a click moment, and if so where in the game did it occur?

Nothing feels better than deflecting the Genichiro combo into a deathblow

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 03:52 PM PDT

Just beat the game! Also, Mikiri?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 06:43 AM PDT

So wow that final boss was rough. Took me about 2.5 hours to figure out.

Now that I'm done and I've had some time to reflect I keep coming back to mikiri counter. It seems so fundamental to the way combat was designed that it seems weird to me that it wasn't a core skill given right away.

Is it odd that you could accidentally play through the whole game without unlocking this skill?

    Happened again

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 10:48 AM PDT

Took me 2 days to finally beat him and was actually way harder than Isshin the Sword Saint. The feeling when it’s done is next to none. This gem of a game has the best combat ever done.

The Great Carp is real you guys.

Finally beat Isshin the Sword Saint.

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 10:47 PM PDT

I tried him about 30 times yesterday ( probably more ) and to no avail. Some runs I would get to the last phase without a scratch, other runs I'd die to Genichiro. Towards the end I was fighting him without spirit emblems as I ran out 🤣

The game changer for me was watching a video on YouTube that said to hold deflect while lightning reversal. Still, I was playing until 3am and no luck.

Well, I woke up this morning, turned the game on, and comfortably beat him in my first try. Safe to say probably the most satisfying victory since I beat Soul of Cinder. I feel so happy.

I absolutely loved this game and am going to run NG as soon as I can.

Just finished my first Sekiro game, with lots of trouble, it was a little bit frustrating but very beautiful game, also first of this type for me. I found my self very late in the game farming for hours to enjoy all of the skills available.

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 08:52 PM PDT

Was really possible as a first timer to be able to handled not get killed very frequently to keep the necessary coins and points to get to the game all upgraded without farming?

    ahhh headless destroyer of a--

I just realized that the screaming you hear during the last phase of true monk is coming from the centipede

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 09:09 PM PDT

That makes it way creepier. Do any of the other centipedes scream like that?

This place is calm and unsettling at the same time. The fact that such a beautiful sacred place can be transformed into a dark corner just because of greed is terrifying. This has to be the most eerie sounding tracks in the whole game, especially with the monks chanting in the background!

I suck at parrying but I want to try sekiro

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 03:15 PM PDT

recently ive been playing dark souls 3 and love it and I was considering playing sekiro next, however I hear that the main way of defense is parrying, in games I've never been particularly good at parrying, I probably could with the time to learn but without the need to I just never have, I just want to know will sekiro be impossible with a parrying noob or could I just roll my way to victory

    [SPOILERS] Random theory

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 01:04 PM PDT

Lady Butterfly has something to do with the Corrupted Monk. Is this theory... believable? Probably not. Then, why? Well, two things.

I was fighting against Lady Butterfly when I noticed that the main motif of her theme, the skeleton upon the true song is built, is the same that the one for the Corrupted Monk. Is you listen both of them closely, you will see that they share a huge number of notes.

That made me think. Lady Butterfly is a master of illusions. The first phase of her fight is just you fighting an illusion. So, what if she didn't actually die, and after your battle continued searching for immortality on her own? If you remember, the first version of the Corrupted Monk is basically an illusion, and when you're fighting the true monk, in the second phase she uses illusions as well. Could it be Lady Butterfly?

And that's it. Probably this doesn't make any sense, but just wanted to share the thought with you guys. What do you think about it?
