    OPINION ABOUT SWORD-SAINT

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 09:57 PM PST

So I finished the game for the first time last night, and I got the ending where you return the Dragon Heritage, but that's besides the point. What I really wanna talk about was that ending boss battle, because holy shit, it's probably From's magnum opus.

Seeing Genichiro with his own mortal blade in that field of white flowers where we first lost our arm was extremely fitting. A final showdown in the place where we met first? That sounds anime as hell, count me in. Then Sekiro draws his sword, and you already notice something is different; Sekiro is confident and ready when drawing his sword. In the beginning it was almost as if he was fumbling for it, he was rusty. But now, you're at your peak. A brief stare, and the fight starts... and it's a pushover. Your second battle with Genichiro at the top of the tower was your battle as equals, and since then Sekiro has grown immensely, gaining true mastery over his arts. So he makes quick work of Genichiro. And that's when he does the only threatening action he's done this entire fight; he kills himself, and summons Isshin, the Sword Saint.

From the first stroke of his sword, you know this battle is gonna be something else. His movements are fast, precise, and strong as hell, yet they all seem effortless. I don't know about you all, but the first phase wasn't that much of a challenge for me. I died to it a couple times in my subsequent attempts, but that's more due to me being a dumbass rather than the difficulty of the phase itself, but I digress. You deflect his attacks, hit him a few times, then go in for that sweet sweet deathblow.

Then he pulls out a spear. And the fight completely changes. Now he has huge thrusts, sweeps, a gun, and his moveset from the first phase. This is where you see him go all out. And this is where you will die. Many, many times. But you eventually conquer it and feel like a god.

Then this man becomes Pikachu for his third phase, giving a new high risk/high reward element to the fight. You can deflect the lightning, but if you don't get the timing right, you're pretty much dead. But when you do pull off the lightning strike, it makes you feel like a fucking badass.

Eventually, when you win, Isshin accepts his fate at the hands of a great warrior. In that moment you have cemented yourself as the equal, if not the superior, to the greatest warrior the land has ever fucking seen. In that moment, Sekiro, the one-armed wolf, has bested Isshin, the one-eyed saint.

The gameplay is enough to elevate this fight into GOAT tier, but what really elevates this fight above the likes of Owl, or Genichiro (second fight) is the significance and the story implications. This man, summoned for the sheer purpose of destroying you and rebuilding the land he helped found is your final test in this long and grueling journey, and what a test it is. I love this boss so much. Suck it, Ludwig, you've been replaced.

    10/10 would fight again

After 67 hours and 4 playthroughs, I finally got 100% in the game of the year!

Am I the only one not afraid to say i think this game is hard?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 10:50 PM PST

I never liked guitar hero myself nor anything rythym related. I'm a dark souls veteran and I know what everyone will say it's not dark souls but I mean I did beat the game finally.

After a fortnight hiatus from isshin at the end I randomly did it after seeing a video with the lazulli axe.

But I'm not going to act like I'm the best or a great gamer because there's always someone better but is anyone else willing to admit this game gave them a LOT of trouble?

I'm so happy I beat the game!

First of all, WOW! This game is amazing and the final boss fight was too epic (probably my favorite boss in the game). I have to say, after Genichiro (my git gud moment), Isshin was a breeze (not really but it took me exponentially less tries to take him down compared to Genichiro).

During the first phase of the final boss, it was easy to not get damaged by Genichiro and looking back at the fight earlier in the game, I can't believe it took me dozens of tries to take him down.

Even Isshin went down in a couple of tries for me.

I can't believe I did it! This game is too good and I'm getting ready for NG+

    Armored warrior glitch?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 04:26 PM PST

[Spoilers] So, I wasn't aware that there were these specific stuff you have to do in order to get the return ending. I got both the snake viscera, but didn't know what to do with them. I'm at demon of Hatred now, and Kuro is in the fields. Have I screwed up my chance for the return ending?

Is the monk inside the Halls of Illusion Indian?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 10:03 PM PST

It's something I've always wondered, he looks indian to me and speaks about Nirvana. Considering the armored warrior is European (Portuguese according to Vaati) I wonder if there are other characters of other races, just a thought ~

Is there anyway for me to save Kotaro?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 06:10 PM PST

Hello, my friend recently gifted me Sekiro and Ive been loving it. All up until the point where I accidentally sent Kotaro to his doom. I completely forgot about the surgeon quest in the abandon dungeon, and sent Kotaro there thinking "hes going to get to see his father". Then I went to see if I could find him in the dungeon. Couldnt. Spoke with that damned guy, and he told me "good job heres some wax" didnt understand till I saw Kotaro cuffed and sad in the background. I know theres probably no way to save him after the questline, but is there any like back-alley way of going to a past save before I sent Kotaro? If not im willing to restart the game for this. Dont tell me "oh hes not that important". This is my Shinobis pride. He was just a gentle giant, looking for a pure white flower, I got him a pinwheel, he saw I was trying to help. He trusted me, called me a good man, and I ignorantly sent him to his death. Whats another couple hours and annoying bull fight? I just want to fix what I caused.

[SPOILER] Demon of Hatred gets new moves, and becomes much harder with Demon Bell active.

    Posted: 24 Dec 2019 04:59 PM PST

I'm not sure if this happens with any or perhaps all other bosses, but on my last playthrough at NG+2 and without Kuro's charm, I learned every. single. inch of DoH's fight, to the point that I accidentally made it through his first two health bars with no damage, and only got hit like once on his third.

Now I'm going through on NG+3, charmless, AND Demon Bell active, and he's probably the most noticeably harder boss. He has some new moves that I never saw in all the times I've fought him in my other playthrough, and it makes his difficulty jump the most extreme out of any boss I've seen so far.
