[SPOILERS] Love Letter to Sekiro Posted: 21 May 2020 09:47 PM PDT I know I'm kinda late to the party since the game's been out for over a year now, but I can't get over how great of a game it is, so my apologies for rambling here. I have a friend who's been talking for years about how much he loves "Soulsborne" style games, and he convinced me to get Jedi Fallen Order last year, which was my first game that kind of falls into that category. I played through the game, and loved it so much I did a second playthrough on Jedi Grand Master. Naturally, he told me that I would fall in love with Sekiro, but I was hesitant because I could never get all the way through a From Software game before. Then, two weeks ago today, I gave in and bought the game. I even streamed it as I was playing so my friend could watch and give me advice. I wasn't surprised that the game was difficult, but I was surprised that I never blamed the game for my deaths (I usually find any reason to make it the game's fault when I rage). Sekiro has this way of shoving your mistakes in your face, and showing you that they're YOUR mistakes, while also being much more forgiving than Dark Souls. Combat and traversal are fun and smooth, the puzzles are really engaging and challenging in their own way, and the visuals are breathtaking. On top of all that, my favorite part of the game is how every boss you encounter teaches you something, and Genichiro is sort of like a test throughout the game to make sure you're picking up on those lessons (while showing you that you're making progress). Beating him on the rooftop of Ashina Castle was one of the most satisfying moments I've had in a game for a long while, and I was almost shocked at how easily I beat him in the warm-up for Sword Saint Isshin. Speaking of which, that was one of my favorite boss fights of all time. First, the fact that Genichiro sacrifices himself to call upon him shows how far you've come since crawling out of that pit (he destroys you with ease at the beginning, then has to retreat from the rooftop, and now accepts that he'll never surpass you). Second, you've now gotten through everything this game has thrown at you, from Genichiro to the Guardian Ape to the Owl, learning everything from Mikiri Counters (God's greatest gift to the world) to step dodging to Goomba stomping, and Isshin comes along and says "good, now you better be fucking perfect at ALL of it or you're not beating this game". But after getting my ass kicked about a dozen times, I finally heard the words "Well...done...Sekiro" and I thought "so THAT'S why it got Game of the Year. Here I am now, two weeks, four playthroughs, 33 achievements (34 if you count "Earn all achievements), and over 120 hours later, and I still haven't gotten tired of it. Onward, to playthrough #5! I think the combat in Sekiro really shines the brightest in the Owl Father fight. Posted: 21 May 2020 07:22 PM PDT I think that has got to be my single favourite boss fight in the game. Owl is also a shinobi so he uses shinobi moves like firecrackers, mikiri counters, aerial combat and he moves and jumps around fast as hell. His shinobi speed and agility really make for an interesting fight considering Sekiro is also a shinobi who has been trained in the exact same techniques. What do you think and what is your favourite boss fight? [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 May 2020 09:13 PM PDT Just came back to sekiro to start my 4th ng cycle...Jesus this game is so god damn good. Sat down just to check it out, couldn't even remember the controls. Ended up playing thru genichiro, and past the Ashina depths. The combat is just so fucking good ugh I love it. Genichiro might be my favorite from boss. The arena, the pace, it's so dope! Even though i steamroll him now I remember the first time and it was so tough! It felt so amazing to finally beat him. Nobody comes anywhere close to fromsoft in my book. Not since I was a kid have I had gaming experiences so rewarding. When you could talk about a game for as long as you could play it, you know it's good! [link] [comments]
I beat the game for the first time Posted: 22 May 2020 12:22 AM PDT I just finished sekiro for the first time 18 minutes ago, and it was the most satisfying thing ever. Nothing beats the feeling of dying over and over and over then getting into the fight and just winning. I was shaking and my heart was going. I can't wait to do it all over again.
