Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:34 PM PDT With a caveat, I don't think this can be so directly compared with Dark Souls as Bloodborne could. Apart from bonfires and epic bosses, a lot of the game is very different from SoulsBorne: the parry-based swordplay, the stealth kills, freedom of movement, and mini-bosses. Sword Saint Isshin is probably the most difficult yet fun boss fight I have ever encountered, I beat him on the 19th try and yet I have never once felt frustrated. The humanoid bosses feel like they are as humanely fragile as us but with awesome parrying skills. I even backed up the save file before Sword Saint just so I can fight him again. That's also the reason why I think the high poise beast bosses where it evokes Dark Souls bosses (especially Demon of Hatred) are the worst parts of the game, not saying its completely bad though, it just doesn't let the game's excellent sword fighting shine. Hoo boy, running around for 10 minutes trying to fight the two apes wasn't the most fun. The one boss that strikes the right balance between the humanoid and beast bosses for me is Corrupted Monk, high poise yet with clear weapon strike tells to make parry easier. Guardian Ape's second phase is also fun if it weren't for that Terror-inducing scream. I hope if they make a sequel / DLC it will be mostly populated by humanoid bosses, and Corrupted Monk-style high poise bosses if they need to. It is the first From Software game where upon finishing it I feel like "YESSS! let's do that again!!" instead of the usual "Thank god i'm through with that" with other From Software games. I love this game but it has one major flaw... Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:35 PM PDT ... I can't rage quit after I lose to a boss for the 492th time. Instead I have to wait for the load screen to finish and then I'm like, well I waited this long, I might as try one more time. And it's 2am. [link] [comments]

Finally defeated OWL Father at Hirata Estate!! Posted: 17 Apr 2020 12:38 AM PDT Took me forever, but I finally did it!! By the time I got his moves down I was able to defeat him in 3 min!! What I did: I raised my attack power to 21 by grinding the backstab at Upper Tower Anechamber , receive 1050 xp per backstab, takes roughly 12-15 min per skill level gain. I used the Ceremonial Tanto to give me 5 extra spirit emblems. By this point you should have all 10 healing gourds, so I used one to replenish lost health of CT, Soni went into the fight with 9 healing gourds. I used Ako's Sugar. I chose the sugar instead of Alos spirit fall because found I could only realistically need 3, and I wanted to save my spirit emblems. I doubled up on the attack strength (I think) and used Divine Confetti as well. (Not 100% if it actually helped during the fight, but it made me feel good to use it!) Possibly helped during his second phase because he uses apparition type manuvers. I know a lot of YouTube videos say Whirlwind Slash is the best combat art to use. But if you are one of those people that doesn't mind grinding out during the first playthrough to unlock items, upgrades, and additional combat arts then I highly recommend using the Mortal Draw and if possible the Empowered Mortal Draw. I had very good luck using the Mortal Draw, with the Ako's sugar, and Divine Confetti to get his health meter down and his posture meter up extremely quickly during the first phase.(also, cause I had my attack power much higher than what it should be.) Recommend using Ako's sugar asap after the first killing blow to increase damage for his second phase. And if you can squeeze in a healing gourd if need be! Also: Hide behind a pillar when his Firehawk is being prepped? This will avoid all damage from it, but jump back quickly because he will go for an unlockable attack!! When he goes for an unlockable attack jump left OR right then you can go for a combat art attack. When he throws the gunpowder you can jump back, and be prepared to jump back again because he will do an immediate unlockable attack. Or you can jump left/right and he will do an unlockable attack/possible just run at you and give you a blockable attack to run his meter up! Sorry for this being so long and probably useless. But I am extremely happy to have finally defeated him! I've been stuck on this battle for months! (While playing on/off and spending hours increasing attack power) but I feel accomplished to have beaten him!! Just had to share it!! [link] [comments]

I’m dumb and don’t understand the story Posted: 16 Apr 2020 09:49 PM PDT So I just finished Sekiro (immortal severance ending) and I'm going to be honest: I don't really get the story. I get parts of it. Like, I'm tryna get this kid to die I think by killing the brain and collecting stuff. But what does Genichiro want? Wtf was going on where Isshin came outta his neck? What was up with the demon of hatred?? I tried looking up videos but they are pretty much all more hidden lore but I'm jest trying to find out the very basic story that I was supposed to understand. So if anyone knows of a video explaining the stuff that shouldn't really need explaining I would very much appreciate you sending a link. Or if you just wanna explain it to my silly ass that would be even better. Sorry for being dumb! (I also hope that I added the right flair...) [link] [comments]

O’rin of the water delicious cheese Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:01 PM PDT Basically I just had her follow me to the back pathway where that weird soldier warns you about her. When she's in the pathway, she can't attack, she can only block and perry. Basically you just run behind her and slap her. She can't even touch you. Entire battle finished without being hit once. I discovered this when trying to find a way to stealth kill her. Usually I don't like cheesing bosses but I found this one myself so hey it's ok right? I'm proud of myself thank you [link] [comments]

Owl in Hirata Estate is kinda bullshit Posted: 16 Apr 2020 11:33 PM PDT I've been fighting this bastard for 2.5 hours and barely any improvement. Why is this so obnoxiously hard, am I missing something here? [link] [comments]
How long is Dark Souls 3 compared to Sekiro ? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:59 PM PDT Disclaimer: I'm not a particularly skilled player -- I would even take out a limb and say I'm in the bottom quartile (if you rank by skills), and only reason I got through Sekiro is sheer persistence (it took me whooping 74 hours to do Purification ending while most people do it by half of that time...similarly it took me 31ish hours to beat cuphead) I played Sekiro, enjoyed it, and want to play Dark Souls 3 too. Given that it took me 74 hours to beat Sekiro (but once the combat clicked, it became relatively easy - eg I killed Isshin within 5 hours or Owl (father) in 1.5 hours), how long should I expect to finish a normal (not completionist) run of Dark Souls 3 ? I'm asking because I want to play DS3 too, but I'm afraid I can't eke more than 40ish hours to play it (spread over the next 1.5 month). Also, how long it takes for the combat to "click" in Dark Souls 3 (for me, in Sekiro it clicked after beating Genichiro, which was around 35 hours or half the time in) ? [link] [comments]

I killed the "purple ninja" at Hirata Estate without touching him. Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:27 PM PDT I'm actually pretty bummed rn.. I snagged the mist raven raven prosthetic earlier in the game without engaging him. And I recently beat Seven Ashina Spears and got inside Ashina castle. So I figured I could handle him by now and wanted to see what hes about. Once I got to him I jumped off the cliff to the water (I heard you can get the drop on him this way). As I hit the water I hear the sounds of suffering but I was like "no way..." so I head back up and hes nowhere to be found. I closed the game hoping he would be back once I reopened (deep down I knew he wouldn't be). I went back up to his location and he was laying there face down in the dirt:( My bad if this is something people in the community have already discussed! I JUST got sekiro, I've wanted it for sooo long and I'm obvs a hugeee souls fan. Plus perfect time to play such a ridiculously hard game while I'm on quarantine. Seriously tho, the difficulty of this game is crazy. But unique and rewarding forsure, I love it. [link] [comments] |
