I beat Isshin the Sword Saint!

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 03:27 PM PDT

Yesterday I went was extremely frustrated when fighting Isshin for my first time ever, and went to this subreddit to rant about it. I didn't expect everyone to be so helpful when I posted one of my fights with him, but it helped me out a ton. I was able to beat him after about 45 minutes of trying today!

It wasn't the prettiest of fights, but a win is a win

Thanks again to everyone who took time to help me yesterday!

Defeating Isshin charmless, bell demon, no healing every day until Elden Ring is out (day 162)

Puppeteer-ed a gunner and gave Snake Eyes Shirahagi a taste of her own medicine. Was satisfying to see her thrown around like a little runt.

Title says most of it, just finished off SSI and had beaten the Demon of Hatred not 30 minutes prior. Feels like I'm good at video games again. Boldly on to NG+!

Isshin breaks the normal flow of combat

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 11:32 PM PDT

I understand that he's the final boss and he's supposed to be very difficult, but what I don't understand is why he is different than every other normal sized boss and enemy in the game. When you go up against Genichiro, Owl, or any other enemy that is around the same size as Sekiro, they usually can't counter with a blockable attack until they have deflected one of yours. So how does Isshin keep hitting me after merely blocking an attack, instead of deflecting?

Maybe I'm just being a big baby about it but I don't understand why he works under a completely different set of rules from everything else.

Edit: Turns out that was just a weird and isolated incident, and my whole post is now pointless.

Question, am I the only one who is more afraid of headless motherf****** than Sword Saint Ishin or Apes (both)?
