What is your favorite/least favorite enemy?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 09:46 PM PDT

As you can tell from the title, I am curious as to which enemies are your favorite or least favorite. Whether you like or hate them because of lore, art style, combat, or anything else, why do you like or dislike them? I'm mainly asking about enemies that are NOT mini-bosses or bosses because those have been asked about millions of times at this point.

My least favorite are the enemies in Fountainhead palace that give the enfeebled status effect (called Palace Nobles). Enfeebled is the most annoying debuff in my opinion and all it takes is for them to have line of sight and be in range of you for them to stack it. I know there are easy ways around them but it's annoying fighting enemies that literally cripple you by looking at you and sucking through a straw.

My favorite enemy is probably Okami Elite (Lightning Naginata) because they are fun to fight against and look super cool with the lightning attacks.

I don't see the normal enemies talked about much and I'm curious to what other people think about them.

Does Anyone Else Love Sekiro But Hate Dark Souls?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 08:02 PM PDT

I fell in love with Sekiro when I played it, so I decided to try DS1 Remastered, and disliked it. It seemed that the difficulty was about the same, but DS1R was infinitely more frustrating because of the way the difficulty was distributed. In Sekiro the bosses and mini bosses were super hard, but moving from area to area although not easy, wasn't hard enough to stop you for hours from physically progressing through the game unlike DS. I love difficult games, but hated dying to the same swarm of enemies for hours on end. Also it didn't feel as rewarding because a lot of the mini bosses were pretty easy to kill.

Anyone else feel the same or am I just crazy?

    Sekiro Condensed Boss Guide

    Posted: 11 May 2020 03:49 PM PDT

This is my condensed guide for a few little tricks that might make a boss or mini boss more "doable". Geared for beginners, useful for many.

    MINI BOSSES - PART 1

I don't mean to go in depth like a true detailed guide, but I will share tidbits that may help without spoiling the whole fight.

    General Naomori Kawarada

    • Keep up the pressure. Go for posture damage.
    • Deflecting is critical
    • If NG+ then use Ichimonji double.
    • You can assassinate one health bar
    • You don't need a prothsetic but firecrackers are good.

    • Danger Move: Usually a sweep. Jump OVER IT TOWARDS HIM and jump off his head.

    Chained Ogre

    • He gets afraid of any fire based move. Use often.
    • Keep moving and harrassing him constantly
    • Move fast, strike often, don't get caught.
    • Grapple on his head when you can.

    • Danger move: RUN. Then dash back in and strike when he misses.

    General Tenzen Yamauchi

    • Same as the previous general

    Headless (MotherF-ers)

    • Staying behind him is good for beginners
    • Waiting until you have the lilac umbrella (and/or plenty of confetti) is very helpful but beware that the follow up move (if you have that skill unlocked) with the umbrella will cancel your divine confetti. Do. Not. Use. the follow up move.
    • Move fast and hard. Don't waste time and deflect what you can't dodge.
    • The last upgrade for the whistle stuns him and makes him trivial.

    • Danger Move: None in direct combat, but he will disappear and when he does, run. Anywhere. But RUN.

    Shinobi Hunter

    • M.I.K.I.R.I. C.O.U.N.T.E.R the ShhhhHH- out of him.
    • Mikiri plus an ichimonji double follow up will DEVASTATE his posture.
    • You can assassinate one health bar but it is tricky

    • Danger move: Mikiri him

    Jizou the Drunkard

    • Kill the small enemies ASAP
    • You can speak to an NPC in the pond who will help you fight until he dies.
    • Ichimonji or whirlwind can be helpful. Deflecting works well despite being a little scary, but just fall back to heal posture damage if needed. His posture is slow to recover.
    • Patience is key.

    • Danger Move: Try and stay away from these. Usually a sweep or grab. If you feel confident with the sweep jump over it and off his face for posture damage.

    Blazing Bull

    • His head takes extra damage by a LOT
    • Firecrackers are great
    • Wait for him to do a direct charge, then get a perfect deflect to stun him. Hit his head. Phoenix's umbrella is GREAT for this move.

    • Danger Move: You are fine.

    Armored Warrior

    • Yell furious grunts and battlecries in samurai.
    • Just deflect and once his posture breaks assassinate for a backwards kick. Get creative.
    • Just deflect and retreat as needed. His posture recovery is insanely slow.

    • Danger Move: I think he does a stab you can Mikiri.

    Long Arm Centipede Sen-Un

    • Deflect deflect deflect deflect.
    • Jump over danger sweep and off his face. Hit-hit.
    • Deflect deflect deflect deflect....

    Lone Shadow Longswordsman

    • F this guy.

    (To be continued)

Shinobi Hunter Enshin SO EASY HE'S DIFFICULT

    Posted: 11 May 2020 11:06 PM PDT

So I'm on my ~7th playthrough of Sekiro and wanted to try with Kuro's Charm so I loaded a new save slot up. From playing the game this many times, I have trained myself to be quick with the Mikiri Counter so I thought that he would be a piece of cake. For some reason, without my large pool of health from the NG+ runs, I am having large amounts of trouble defeating him.

Every time he charges up his thrust, I quickly Mikiri and fail almost every time. I somehow manage to Mikiri at the perfect time as to where I cannot dodge again before his actual thrust. Sekiro managed to become difficult for me again. IN EARLY GAME. HIS THRUST TAKES SUCH A LONG TIME TO CHARGE UP THAT I MESS UP THE COUNTER, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Anyone else find that you are reacting too quickly for the early game bosses, not in NG+?

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS Why did this boss die in only 1 deathblow?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 08:29 PM PDT

So, I was goofing around with the true monk cheese where you get him stuck next to that tree by the ledge. After the first phase he usually teleports away for phase two, but for some reason he literally died after only one deathblow. I have never seen this in my life. Maybe the deathblow knocked him off the cliff? I didn't see what happened because the second I landed the first deathblow I ran over to the tree branches where you could stealthblow him for phase 2. I have never ever heard of this happening, but maybe someone else has seen it before? I'm playing on PS4 by the way.

    NG w/o Kuro's charm & w Bell Demon

    Posted: 11 May 2020 10:19 PM PDT

After beating NG+4 I wanted to go back and challenge myself to having the gear and beads as you get them when starting from scratch.

After obtaining Kusabimaru and talked to Kuro I talked to him again and he gave me the option to give him back his charm. Weird, I thought. I thought it was for NG+ only but hey, I got good at parrying so far so lets do it...

I played some, and it seemd like I had never played this game before (lol), I'm getting my ass beat all over again. I'm currently cycling between Genichiro and Senpou Temple depending on how frustrated I get. Not having the attack power boosts (and items, I miss my sugars and pellets) makes a big difference, now I REALLY have to get good at this game... Again haha.

Has anybody else tried this? If you're feeling full of yourself about how Shinobi you are, try this path. It's the closest thing to getting hardcore without getting insane about it (like only dodging on a playthrough or something ridiculous like that).
