practicing digital painting using FromSoft screenshots - here's my first one [fanart]

    Posted: 09 May 2020 07:28 PM PDT

Lost to Genichiro the first time. Then I started the grind. Killed all the minibosses there were, collected the max gourd seeds I could, got all the relevant skills. After I was done, I returned for round 2 against him. He was practically irrelevant. Died once but I wasn't even fighting properly.

    HESTITATION IS DEFEAT!

    Posted: 09 May 2020 09:36 PM PDT

After the better part of a year now of trying to beat Sword Saint and quitting and coming back, tonight I finally beat it!!! I just thought that, if anywhere, here would be a place to share. Such a great community. Keep severing, Shinobis!

The fist game I wanted to Platinum since I bought it months ago. I could say is one of my favorite games of all time.

White Monkey Dual Katana vs Red Guard Dual Katana - Sekiro enemy battle

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:15 PM PDT

You can get 27 prayer beads (6.75 necklaces), 8 gourd seeds (9 charge Healing Gourd), 3 boss memories, and 9 prosthetic tools all before fighting Genichiro @ Ashina Castle

    Well done Sekiro!

    Posted: 09 May 2020 03:11 AM PDT

First platinum ever of my entire life. Sekiro was the only game that had such a profound impact on me that I just had to go for that platinum. That grind though! Every single trophy was a true pleasure to get, the only annoying one was that height of technique trophy to get all skills.

I'm at Corrupted Monk, and I dont think the gameplay is too difficult, but I think consumables like Divine Confetti that are essential and require farming make it less enjoyable than it could be.

    Posted: 09 May 2020 09:45 PM PDT

In the Souls games, consumables are nice to have, but you're not fucked if you run out and have to grind away farming them at the mercy of the RNG (humanities, embers and human effigies are possible exceptions).

Just an observation. The game is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it but I cant imagine grinding for items if we weren't all social distancing and staying home.

Why do I keep seeing people you divine confetti on non apparition enemies?

Do they still give a slight damage buff or something?

I love this game, because it forces you to become a master.

    Posted: 09 May 2020 03:36 PM PDT

The first time I beat Genichiro Ashina, it took me a couple of hours, over several sittings, to finally beat him. I probably died to him 50 times, and when I finally got through his first two deathblow markers and saw what came next, I felt like I'd never beat him. Eventually I did, and I felt better about my gaming chops than I have in years.

The first time I faced the Corrupted Monk, and the first time I faced the Long-Arm at Senopu Temple, I won by running away: keeping out of range, sprinting in for a single stab attack, and sprinting away again, without ever parrying a single attack.

It was the other Long-Arm, behind the gun fort, that finally taught me what this game was about. His pattern was easier to learn than any other character, and I HAD to learn it. Once I figured out what was going on, it only took me one try to get it.

The headless ape taught me a lot. The owl taught me a lot. Isshin Ashina taught me how to be perfect--not that I became perfect, but I finally understood what perfection would look like. When I finally cleared the final boss, I didn't even take a hit til after my second deathblow, and I felt like I'd really become a master of something.

Now, I'm on my first NG+. I flew through areas that had taken me hours before. I beat minibosses without bothering to refill my gourd first. I beat the General in just two tries, and when I came up against Genichiro, I beat him on my first attempt.

What I love SO MUCH about this game is that these things feel like real accomplishments, like I really learned the patterns and honed my reflexes, and became GOOD. Wolf no longer feels like a bloody Sisyphus, moving forward only because of his immortality, like he did on my first run. Now, it feels like he, and I, could really pull this thing off. I look forward to unlocking the other endings, and not feeling like I'm backtracking and slogging through old content, but that I'm still growing, improving, and honing my abilities at something so fun and so beautifully perfectable.

When did you realize you were becoming a master? What fight taught you the most?

So owl father in my ng+ is constantly throwing firecracker

He wasn't this obnoxious with it in my first playthrough. I'm kind of at a loss, if I dodge back he catches me about half the time if I dodge forward he just doubles down and tosses another.

Edit: mortal draw for the win.

Need help with Sword Saints 2nd phase...

    Posted: 09 May 2020 11:02 PM PDT

I'm cloud streaming Sekiro and amazed that I made it this far. Everything was actually going fine until the final boss. I beat Genichiro Ashina, Owl (Father) and even True Corrupted Monk, the stream ran quiet smooth actually, but it just can't keep up with this fight. I know both Genichiro and Isshin's 1st phases like the back of hand now and can probably do them with no damage on a local machine, even then I keep dying during these phases while streaming. Isshin's 2nd phase is another matter, tho, the work-up to it plus just the phase itself is too much. I think I can handle the last phase.

I've never cheated in a From game before, but I need help. I saw a few guides on YouTube but I'm still dying.

Solved: I think I got it now.
