    I find sekiro harder than any other Fromsoftware game & the Nioh series. Maybe because it’s a solo game without having the option for outside help?

    My Sekiro Story - From Skeleton to Ninja

    TLDR - Hated the game, kept at it, loved it.

    I've been thinking about this a lot. About my experience with this game. If you notice from my history post, I'm all about Dark Souls. Ever since Demon's Souls came out, it's been my favorite series. I've enjoyed other FromSoftware games like Armored Core and King's Field so I'm a pretty big FromSoftware fan.

    After Dark Souls 3, I was anxiously waiting on the next title. There it was, Sekiro. A ninja game that focused on stealth, parrying and dark souls difficulty. It looked like a departure from Dark Souls and it didn't feel like it was for me.

    So what did I do? I went and bought an Xbox One S, just so I could relive the Dark Souls world and go back on the journey of collecting all the achievements again. After completing DS3, I went and acquired an xbox 360 so I could play the vanilla versions of DS1 and 2.

    By this time, Elden Ring had already been announced and FromSoftware has since gone quiet. So what now? No other games scratch the same itch that Dark Souls series has. At the behest of some friends and reddit, I decided to give Sekiro a go.

    Maybe it was my preconceived notion and bias but I did not enjoy the game at all. It had some similarities to Dark Souls but it was not a Dark Souls game (despite what some might argue). I hated the parrying system, lack of customization, difficulty spikes and overall play style. I did like the characters, graphics, music and the world FromSoftware built.

    Then something happened, it wasn't until I beat Owl (in the estate) that I really started enjoying the game. Everything just "clicked" into place. The combat started to feel more fluid and satisfying. Fights became rhythmic and entrancing. The audio cues just added to the cinematic stage that the screen transformed into. I stopped playing like a skeleton and became a ninja, the main character of the story, movie, show and it was amazing.

    After the platinum and several NGs, I decided to try my hand without Kuro's charm and it becomes an entirely different animal. I give a lot of props to those out there that played the game with the demon bell and no charm.

    One of the technical standouts for me are the hitboxes. It's something you don't even realize until your balls deep in an intense battle and a sword just misses your head by centimeters as you start your whirlwind attack or a split second late on a dodge and you would be a pancake. It's something you don't see often in games. That level of care.

    It's not a perfect game but FromSoftware, you outdid yourself again. Now give us Elden Ring news!

    The Loaded Umbrella is extremely awkward to use and very spirit emblem-hungry if attempting to use to its proper potential. It is not exactly good to use in charmless runs unless you have a seemingly-bottomless supply of spirit emblems.

    It seems to only be able to "carry" in regards to turtling in non-NG runs/NG runs with Kuro's charm. I see people telling me to use it during Guardian Ape, Snake Eyes', Ujinari Mizuo, and Demon of Hatred's fights, but trying to use it for proper damage negation ends up with quickly-broken posture and a lot of chip damage. The deflect timing on the umbrella is extremely awkward and clunky to figure out and properly time, where deflecting with kusabimaru is both easier and doesn't cost spirit emblems. I found more use from the Finger Whistle and Flame Vent than I did from the Loaded Umbrella.

    I'm on my first ng play thru I beat both forms of this monk pretty easy on my first encounters. Didn't feel like bugging with the apparition phase this time, nor did I want to waste any snap seeds. Since the malcontent clearly states it's for apparition enemies I was just going to put some dmg in with some timed blocks then spam that—however it didn't work. Not at all. I made sure to wait for the monk to finish his moves all that jazz, not a single effect, or stun from using malcontent...ended up using bite down lol. I kept getting clobbered when/after using it . There was a point in the fight where I was solely testing this prosthetic just because of its description and it made me wipe lol. Anyone else have this issue, or is it just useless against "apparition" corrupted monk lol

    I was wondering what I should do for the best ending. I have the the fresh and dried fruits but I'm afraid that I'm gonna get a terrible ending where everything goes wrong and everyone dies and I don't want that to happen but I also plan to move on to other games for awhile after finishing Sekiro. A couple of hints would be nice. Thank you.

    Trying to do the poothrow strat phase 1 then the spear strat for 2nd phase. I was able to get the 1st phase down East so I could learn the 2nd phase moves — which I started to. But now the asshole isn't throwing poo anymore. Her charges me from afar, stands up on two legs, puts his hand on his bum, then keeps charging. So I figured I'll just get him with whirlwind on his jump n roll attk, but apparently if you dodge too far he still picks you up (legit I'm 10 ft away).

    I released the area, no luck, traveled to a new area, quit and reloaded the game, traveled back, still no luck. Is he not the most random boss ever!? I had less trouble with genichiro 5 hours in.....

    Be nice. What am I missing?

    This game only really became fun for me on NG+

    I enjoyed the NG but found the combat quite repetitive once you get the hang of deflecting. But going into newgame+ and with endgame prosthetics, skills etc I finally felt like I had much more choice when it came to combat and also enough emblems that I could really get into experimenting.

    • purple vent into living force
    • tanto's
    • spirit fall's
    • floating passage
    • puppet ninjitsu

    ^ using these in combos WITH deflections and the basic combat made every encounter so much more fun, it's a slight shame you don't get the really useful stuff until so late in the game. I guess they don't want you to be op but it still feels a bit of a shame. Because once the varieties there I think this might be my fave combat system.

    Anyone else find this?

    So I looked up a guide and it says you can stealth shit her, but after trying not way too many times I've concluded that it got patched. If that's true, what can I do to power through the fight? Tactics, Items, prosthetics? It all helps.
